AWARDS

Outstanding Circulation Executive of the Year Award

Eligibility guidelines:

  • Served as a Central States Circulation Manager's Association member for at least three years at the time of the presentation.
  • Served on at least one committee.
  • Held an elective office. This is not mandatory but is preferable.
  • Exemplify what every circulation executive aspires to be.
  • Be innovative, a thinker, a doer, a promoter, able to motivate, a friend to and a leader of his/her peers.
  • Board Chair presents this award and serves as chair of this committee along with the past winner and the First Vice-President.

It is essential that there be membership involvement. For this reason, nominations from membership for this award should be encouraged. This should not be the only source, but should help in bringing some people to the attention of the Nominating and Selection Committee that may be otherwise overlooked.

This committee will include the Board Chair, the immediate past recipient of the CSOCEA, and the First Vice-President. They could also make additional nominations and would be responsible for making the final selection. It is important to retain the interest of as many people in our profession as possible and this award serves to stengthen our profession in the years ahead.

    President's Exemplary Service Award

    Selection criteria:

  • Member in good standing of CSCMA.
  • Past member of the Board of Directors, or officers, or served on a special committee.
  • Contributed to professionalism in the circulation field.
  • Given time and talent to improve the Circulation Executive's image.

Second Vice-President serves as chair along with the immediate President and past winner.

The committee may accept nominations in writing from the CSCMA Board. The membership can also nominate individuals for consideration. The chair will be responsible for seeing that the traveling trophy and wall plaques are engraved and the president is responsible for the presentation at the annual conference.

    2009 CSCMA CARRIER OF THE YEAR AWARDS ANNOUNCED! - Monday - December 21, 2009 - 04:50 PM

The prestigious Carrier of the Year Award program called for all member newspapers to submit their Carrier of The year entries to CSCMA by November 6th , 2009. This program honors the top carriers in three respective categories: Youth, Adult and Senior. Carriers and their nominator are required to fill out carrier, personal and community service information forms along with a minimum of three letters of recommendation from customers on their routes. A panel of newspaper circulation executive judges reviewed all entries and selected the two winners for this year. Judges reviewed 14 entries submitted from 9 newspapers this year. Judges evaluate all of the materials submitted to select their winners. CSCMA judging took place this year on December 2nd and our winners were then forwarded to NAA.

Each winner is awarded a wall plaque from CSCMA, a $100 check AND the winners are then forwarded to NAA for the national competition against other top carriers throughout the United States. The Newspaper Association of America opens their national competition to all of the newspaper sectionals. There are thirteen sectionals throughout the United States and each sectional can submit one or more entries in each of the three categories so there are generally a minimum of 39 entries to be reviewed by the NAA/COY judges. The three top winners of the NAA Carrier of The Year Awards will each receive a NAA Carrier of the Year Award certificate and a $250 monetary award.

The NAA/COY judging will be done on January 22nd at NAA headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. NAA will directly contact the winning carriers in that competition along with their sponsor newspaper.

The three Carrier of The Year winners who will be representing CSCMA in this competition are:

    YOUTH          NO ENTRIES SUBMITTED

ADULT           Connie Davis from The Reporter Times, Martinsville, IN

SENIOR         Anna Deremiah from The Herald-Times, Bloomington, IN

We will post the top winners selected by NAA once they have been announced. Please be sure to review your newspaper carriers and submit your entries to CSCMA for next year’s competition. You may contact Tom Bunch at tbunch@ottawadelivered.com with any questions about the Carrier of the Year Award program.
